The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) will host its 2027 animal nutrition program during the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Ga. This year’s session topic is “Poultry Nutrition Under Challenge: Linking Feed, Gut Health and Performance.” The program, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET, will bring together veterinarians and nutritionists to explore the critical connections between gut health, poultry nutrition and performance.

“Maintaining gut health and optimizing performance remain top priorities for poultry producers, particularly as they navigate evolving health and production challenges,” said Yuan-Tai Hung, Ph.D., senior manager of research at the Institute for Feed Education and Research, the public charity of AFIA. “This program will connect intestinal health challenges observed in the field with practical nutritional strategies, helping industry professionals better understand how feeding decisions and nutrition tools can support bird resilience and productivity.”

Through real-world examples of common challenges in poultry production, speakers will examine how compromised gut environments impact the overall performance of birds, and how targeted nutritional interventions can help minimize performance losses. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how nutrition can complement broader health and management strategies, with practical applications for modern poultry production.

The animal nutrition program is an IPPE add-on, so attendees must register for IPPE first and then purchase their tickets to this educational program separately. Registration is now open, with a discounted rate of $79 available through Jan. 8. Beginning Jan. 9, registration for this program will be $99.
